MALLI – Chennai’s first food magazine is here – three cheers to the lovely Kavita Chesetty and her team at www.malli.in. Interesting content, excellent layout & lovely photographs – it is indeed another feather in Chennai’s cap.
When Kavita came to see us last month and told us about the launch of Malli, we were excited and happily agreed to write an article on Ayurvedic tips for the first issue of her magazine which is going to be a bi-monthly feature. We knew without any doubt that it would have the Kavita touch – simple, elegant, classy!
As she aptly stated at the launch of the magazine at The Fondue, Hotel Savera, “Chennai is no more just an idly-dosa place…and there is enough happening to keep the magazine rocking. Tradition & contemporary cuisine – both have a happy space here.”
The magazine promises a lot – health articles, kiddies corner, activity calender, perforated recipe pages, festival foods, articles by chefs across the globe, current culinary offers and discounts in the city…and much much more.
The first issue boasts of photographs by none other than Sharad Haksar & design by 1pointsize. Chennai’s danseuse Anita Ratnam’s article on Marghazi offers a lighter view while Sangita Nambiar takes charge of the Kids corner. Charmaine O’ Brien, the cookbook author from Melbourne gives us a glimpse into the history of Christmas food while Danny Russo, the celebrity Chef from Sydney, tempts us with his write-up about classic Italian food. Sowmya Ravindranath’s writing is fresh & evolving. All in all, the magazine truly reaches out to the foodie in each one of us, as Karti Chidamabram stated at the launch.
Certainly something for Chennai to celebrate!
